At the centre of the 40 acre Gludy Estate, you'll find Gludy Lake - 7.6 acres of natural, spring fed lake surrounded by outstanding woodlands and wildlife.
We estimate the stock at between 600 and 700 trout, growing on the excellent food created by the naturally rich water. Depth varies from just a few feet at the shallow end, to 32 feet adjacent to the damn with good water clarity throughout - demanding stealth when stalking fish. The indigenous stock of coarse fish provides a good food source for the trout. We've seen bait balls of roach fry form with trout taking turns to enter and scoop up a mouthful! In fact as we write this there is a bait ball of roach fry under our feet in the boat house. Every thirty minutes or so a huge trout enters the boat house, slides into the bait ball and suddenly grabs another victim. For this reason the big trout are frequently caught of fry patterns. |
